PCSX-Redux is a PlayStation One emulator based on the original PCSX code, which aims to update the code to current standards, leave behind the plugin system, and write everything in OpenGL3+/ImGui to make it more easily portable. It also offers an improved rendering experience, which is always welcome.
Integrated BIOS for an immediate experience
The first thing you will notice when you run PCSX-Redux is that, unlike other emulators, it already comes with a BIOS: OpenBIOS. Thanks to this, you can load any ISO stored on the hard disk instantly and, everything going well, it will work without any problems. If you prefer and if you have it to hand, you can also load your own PlayStation BIOS.
Full compatibility with Sony's console catalog
The PCSX-Redux compatibility list is long. The emulator is compatible with the entire PSX game catalog and, in principle, all the games work perfectly, allowing you to play them from start to finish. The emulator allows you to play video games directly from an original disc, but also using an ISO or binaries.
Customize your experience with all kinds of options
Although PCSX-Redux doesn't have quite as many configuration options as other emulators, it does have all the options you need. You can configure the PlayStation memory cards from the menus, and configure the controls. You can even choose a default shader that you have downloaded to give a different look to any of the games you are trying out.
Enjoy a little nostalgia with a small and efficient emulator
PCSX-Redux is an excellent PSX emulator, thanks to which you can enjoy the entire catalog of Sony's first console from the comfort of your PC. Just 35Mb of free space on the hard disk is all you need to unzip the emulator.
